Guidelines for Political Rallies on the cards...
For its part, the government finally seems to have woken up after leaving citizens to the mercy of politicians and their hordes.Home Minister V S Acharya said the government was likely to impose curbs on the venue, timing and renting of government vehicles during political rallies. He said the government would issue guidelines regarding parking slots, the number of vehicles that can enter the city and the maximum number of buses that can he hired. Dr Acharya said the government was thinking of restricting rallies between 11 am and 3 pm so that vehicles could move out before the peak hours begin. The City police were red-faced. Commissioner of Police Shankar Bidari admitted: “The police failed in their judgment. More vehicles swarmed in than what the police had expected.”But, according to Additional Commissioner of Police (traffic) Praveen Sood, the JD(S) workers and drivers threw traffic norms to the winds and drove around the City without a care in the world. He too admitted that their calculations went awry. They were also hampered by lack of resources to tackle a crisis of such epic proportions, he said.

Some western countries even charge the organizers of rallies, towards arrangements (security, traffic management, water supply, sanitation etc) to be made...

what are your opinions regarding this issue?

I'm surprised to know that Govt. doesnt charge these ppl holding rallies for the services of police, security etc...

How come ? .. There are no two ways about it. They have to pay for the services they are using. And, does this Gowda and Sons need to hold rally in b'lore ?? .. Let them go to their village.

I feel it is duty of the government and its intelligence machinery to anticipate this kind of crude politics by opposition. Opposition is there to create havoc with citizens with whatever cost and blame government for mishandling. It becomes duty of government to make sure the citizens are not hurt by the opposition parties, something which was missing. And we know government also played a politics out of this mess and showed citizens how bad the opposition parties are.

silent sufferers
phew!!! what a tolerant lot we are, Sir!! that we can tolerate nincompoops & sychopants rule the roost and take us for a ride (5 hours to cover 4 kms!!) in our own city where we have stayed all our lives??? Farmers, who seem to have never ever tilled the land landed in bangalore from the hometown of the guys who cry hoarse that they are "sons of the soil" - made merry whistling at women and girls alighting from school buses.... Should'nt Govt put in place such happenings affecting the lives of peace loving law abiding Bangaloreans??? Shame on the Gowda clan for his insensitive utterances ..they are sure to meet their waterloo in the next elections. Hon'ble Minister may plz do something about such happening recurring. Thanks, Sir

Freedom struggle is already over and the rallys disturbing and endangering the safty of school children on their return to their home must be banned.Father goda and son gowda must realise that the all the people in city does not enjoy the luxury of car and security they and their children have. The person at his age must be more concerned . Allot a vacant land outside city. The sponsers of rally should ensure that their 'people' should be given the facilities like Urinals etc and they should not spoil the enviorment..

Dr. Acharya Avare:

Really, organizers of such rallies need to be charged for all arrangements that the administration is forced to make. In addition, they should be given space on the outskirts of the city, and not in places where lakhs of people are severely inconvenienced!!
