Kageri speaks of better qualities in Education: ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ಭಾಷೆ ಇರಲಿ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಬೇಡ: ಕಾಗೇರಿ

Udupi, November 25, 2008: State Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri today stated that the government will make all the arrangements to bring about an all round change in the quality of primary education in the state, particularly in government schools. Mr.Kageri inaugurated the new building of the Vishnumurthy Hayavadana Swamy English Medium High School at Innanje near here.
Mr. Kageri said it was wrong that the aided and private educational institutions were better than the government school, infact the best of the teachers were serving in the government schools.
He said no other organizations except the government schools were offering mid-day meal scheme to its students. This has brought up the level of attendance in the government schools he added. In addition the government was also giving free books, uniforms and other stationary to the students to encourage to study in the government schools. Free bicycles were also given to the students in government schools. The Minister who struck a chord of love for Kannada said the government had no objection to the students learning whichever language they wanted to but the medium of instruction should be in Kannada. He infact said children should be encouraged to learn many languages including English. He said the parents should also encourage their children to learn Kannada exclusively.
Home minister of Karnataka Dr. V.S. Acharya on this occasion stated that in a globalised society it was necessary to learn English language, it would help the students to excel in the fields like information technology and other new generation knowledge bases.
P. Srinivas Tantri welcomed the gathering. Ratna Kumar delivered the introductory remarks. K. Damodar Aithal proposed a vote of thanks. Vishwavallabha Tirtha Swamiji of Sode Vadiraja Math, MLA K. Raghupati Bhat wer also present.

ಉಡುಪಿ: ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಶಾಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದನೆ ತರಗತಿಯಿಂದ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನು ಕಲಿಸುವುದು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು. ಅದರೆ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯನ್ನು ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಕಲಿಯದಂತೆ ಪಾಲಕರು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆ ವಹಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ರಾಜ್ಯ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರೌಢ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಚಿವ ವಿಶ್ವೇಶ್ವರ ಹೆಗಡೆ ಕಾಗೇರಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಸಮೀಪದ ಇನ್ನಂಜೆಯ ಶ್ರೀವಿಷ್ಣುಮೂರ್ತಿ ಹಯವದನ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಅಂಗ್ಲಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲೆಯ ನೂತನ ಕಟ್ಟಡವನ್ನು ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದ ಬಳಿಕ ನಡೆದ ಸಭಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರಕಾರ ಮಾತೃಭಾಷೆ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮವಾಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಒತ್ತ ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದರೆ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್‌ನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಭಾಷೆಯಾಗಿ ಒಂದನೆ ತರಗತಿಯಿಂದ ಕಲಿಸಲು ಬದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ. ಭಾಷಾ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದ ಕುರಿತಂತೆ ಹೈಕೋರ್ಟ್‌ನ ತೀರ್ಪಿನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರಕರ ಸುಪ್ರೀಂ ಕೋರ್ಟಿಗೆ ಎಸ್‌ಎಲ್‌ಪಿ ಹಾಕಿದೆ ಎಂದವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಅನುದಾನಿತ ಶಾಲೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸರಕಾರಿ ಶಾಲೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಿಗುವ ಎಲ್ಲ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯ ಸಿಗಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಬೇಡಿಕೆ ಇದೆ ಎಂದ ಕಾಗೇರಿ ಅವರು, ಸರಕಾರಿ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಅನುದಾನಿತ ಶಾಲೆಗಳ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ತಲುಪುವಂತೆ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾ‌ರಿಯು ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರ ಮೇಲಿದೆ ಎಂದರು. ಸಮಾರಂಭದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಗೃಹ ಸಚಿವ ಹಾಗೂ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಉಸ್ತುವಾರಿ ಸಚಿವ ಡಾ.ವಿ.ಎಸ್. ಆಚಾರ್ಯ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಸರಕಾ‌ಋ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಭಾರಿ ಮಹತ್ವ ನೀಡಿದ್ದು, ಈ ಬಾರಿ ಬಜೆಟ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಟ್ಟು 8950 ಕೋಟಿ ರೂ.ಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದೆ ಎಂದರು. ಸಮಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಶೀರ್ವಚನ ನೀಡಿದ ಉಡುಪಿ ಸೋದೆ ವಾದಿರಾಜ ಮಠದ ಶ್ರೀವಿಶ್ವವಲ್ಲಭ ತೀರ್ಥ ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿಯವರು 65 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಸೋದೆ ಮಠದ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಇನ್ನಂಜೆಯಂಥ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಂಭಗೊಂಡ ಮೊತ್ತಮೊದಲ ವಸತಿ ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲೆ ಇಂದು ಬೆಳೆದಿದ್ದು, ಮುಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಪದವಿ ಕಾಲೇಜು, ಇಂಜಿನಿಯರಿಂಗ್ ಕಾಲೇಜು, ಐಟಿ‌ಐ, ಪಾಲಿಟೆಕ್ನಿಕ್ ಅರಂಭಿಸುವ ಕುರಿತು ಚಿಂತನೆ ನಡೆದಿದೆ ಎಂದರು. ಎಸ್‌ವಿ‌ಎಚ್ ವಿದ್ಯಾಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಸಂಚಾಲಕರಾದ ಪಿ.ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ ತಂತ್ರಿ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದರೆ, ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ರತ್ನಕುಮಾರ್ ಪ್ರಾಸ್ತಾವಿಕ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನಾಡಿದರು. ಆಡಳಿತ ಮಂಡಳಿಯ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಸಲಹೆಗಾರ ಕೆ. ದಾಮೋದರ ಐತಾಳ್ ವಂದಿಸಿದರು. ಆಂಗ್ಲ ಭಾಷಾ ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಕ ಪುಂಡರೀಕ್ಷಾಕ ಕೊಡಂಚ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದರು.
