Parthi Subba Award: Yakshagana

KASARGOD: The first Parthi Subba Award for Yakshagana instituted by the State Government was presented at a function at Kumble in Kasaragod on Sunday.

The awards were conferred on two senior artistes senior composers of Yakshagana Prasangas Prof Amrut Someshwar for 2009 and Hosthota Manjunatha Bhagawathar for 2010 respectively. The award carries a cash prize of Rs one lakh and a citation.

Addressing the gathering Minister for Higher Education Dr V S Acharya said that Yakshagana is one of the complete art form in coastal district. The government has been giving support to the Yakshagana.

He said the government will release Rs 200 crore for the promotion of art, culture in the state. Karnataka Yakshagana Bayalata Academy Chairman Kumble Sundar Rao presided.

Kumble is considered the birthplace of Parthi Subba, who is believed to be the doyen of Yakshagana.Mangalore University Registrar Dr K Chinnappa Gowda spoke on the achievements of the artistes. A talamaddale “Chudamani” was held. Artistes of Yakshagana Kendra, Udupi, staged “Panchavati” in Badagu Thittu style and other selected artistes performed Yakshagana “Yajna Samrakshane” in Tenku Thittu style on the occasion. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು, ಸೆ.೧೮: ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಕಲಾವಿದನಿಗೆ ೨೦೦೯-೧೦ನೆ ಸಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸರಕಾರದ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ‘ಪಾರ್ಥಿ ಸುಬ್ಬ’ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ೧ಲಕ್ಷ ರೂ. ನಗದು ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಲು ಚಿಂತನೆ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಗೃಹ ಸಚಿವ ವಿ.ಎಸ್.ಆಚಾರ್ಯ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.ಮೊಗವೀರ ಸಂಘದ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಶನಿವಾರ ನಗರದ ಪುರಭವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದ ಮೊಗರ ಪ್ರತಿಭೋತ್ಸವ ಹಾಗೂ ೨೦೦೯ನೆ ಸಾಲಿನ ಯಕ್ಷ ವೈಭವ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ಮತ್ತು ಸನ್ಮಾನ ಸಮಾರಂಭವನ್ನು ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.ಸರಕಾರದ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ೨೦೦೯- ೧೦ನೆ ಸಾಲಿನ ಕಲಾವಿದರಿಗೆ ನೀಡುವ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಮಾಲಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಕಲಾವಿದನಿಗೆ ‘ಪಾರ್ಥಿ ಸುಬ್ಬ’ರ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ನೀಡಲಾಗುವುದು. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಧನೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿಗೆ ಮೂರು ಸಾವಿರ ರೂ. ನಗದು ಒಳಗೊಂಡ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ನೀಡಲಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಪ್ರಸಕ್ತ ಸಾಲಿನಿಂದ ೧೦ ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ ೧೦ಸಾವಿರ ರೂ. ನಗದನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ನೀಡಲು ಚಿಂತನೆ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಎಂದು ಆಚಾರ್ಯ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಅಕಾಡಮಿಯನ್ನು ಈಗಾಗಲೆ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಕರಾವಳಿ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಸಭಾಭವನವನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲು ೧ಕೋಟಿ ರೂ. ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಯುವ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಕಲಾವಿದರನ್ನು ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸಲು ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ತರಬೇತಿ ಶಾಲೆಯನ್ನು ತೆರೆಯಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ, ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಕಲಾವಿದರನ್ನು ತಯಾರಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಸಲುವಾಗಿ ಆ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿನ ಎಸ್ಸೆಸ್ಸೆಲ್ಸಿವರೆಗಿನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿ ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯಕ್ಷ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟ್ ಮೂಲಕ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ತರಬೇತಿ ನೀಡಲು ಚಿಂತನೆ ನಡೆಸಿದೆ. ಹೀಗೆ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಕಲೆಯನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿ, ಬೆಳೆಸುವತ್ತ ಸರಕಾರ ಗಮನ ಹರಿಸಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಆಚಾರ್ಯ ಹೇಳಿದರು.ಬಂದರು ಮತ್ತು ಒಳನಾಡ ಜಲಸಾರಿಗೆ ಸಚಿವ ಜೆ.ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಪಾಲೆಮಾರ್ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. ಸಮಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿರಿಯ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಕಲಾವಿದ ಎಂ.ಎ.ನಾಯಕ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಯಕ್ಷ ಮಂಜೂಷ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾರನ್ನು ಸಚಿವ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಪಾಲೆಮಾರ್ ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಿದರು.ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿ.ಶಂಕರ್ ಫ್ಯಾಮಿಲಿ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟ್‌ನ ಪ್ರವರ್ತಕ ಡಾ.ಜಿ.ಶಂಕರ್ ಸಮಾರಂಭದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಶಾಸಕ ಲಾಲಾಜಿ ಆರ್.ಮೆಂಡನ್ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. Some cheer for Yakshagana artistes

The state government will start giving away an award in the name of Parthisubba, the doyen of Yakshagana from next year, said state home minister V S Acharya.
Speaking after giving away the Yaksha Kalanidhi award instituted by Academy of Thenku Thittu Yakshagana (ATTY), New Delhi, at a function held here on Sunday he said the award would contain Rs 1 lakh cash. Chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has given his consent to the proposal submitted by the Karnaraka Yakshagana Academy in this connection. Further, the number of annual Yakshagana awards would be increased to 10 from three and the amount would be increased to Rs 10,000 form Rs 3,000. Orders will be issued to the department of Kannada and culture in this direction soon, he said. Suggesting producing quality CDs of Yakshagana to introduce the art to a wider audience making use of modern technology like the internet, he said the state government would extend necessary financial support to organizations and individuals interested to taking up this project. The state government allocating Rs 180 crore to the department of Kannada and culture, shows it's commitment to the cause of language and culture, he said. Acharya gave away the awards to Yakshagana maestros Malpe Ramadasa Samaga and Kolyur Ramachandra Rao on the occasion. In his introductory remarks, Academy chairman Kumble Sundar Rao said the Yakshagana troupes should not confine their tours to three districts__ Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Shimoga. Instead, they should tour the entire state to reach a wider audience. It was not correct to brand Yakshagana as the art of costal Karnataka. It is representative of the state of Karnataka, he said.
