Police interrogates 400 for clues on blasts

Security: Committee asked to submit report
In view of threat from militants groups, the State government has setup a committee of senior officials - including police - to submit areport on the security to be provided to the various key installationsin the State. The Committee has been asked to submit its report within10 days.The decision was taken at a meeting of ministers and top officials ofthe Home, Energy, Irrigation and Revenue Departments. Karnataka to tighten security at installations
Home Minister V.S. Acharya told presspersons here on Friday that theservices of one Indian Reserve Battalion of Raichur and two KarnatakaState Reserve Police battalions would be utilised to provide securityat installations such as Krishnaraja Sagar, Tungabhadra , Varahi,Almatti, Ghataprabha Malaprabha reservoirs; Raichur Thermal PowerStation, Bellary Thermal Power Station and major bridges.http://www.hindu.com/2008/08/23/stories/2008082360741200.htm

Accidents can be prevented by using this idea....your views on this please
Most of us might have traveled on highways, where there is a particular speed limit specified...lets say 50 kmph...but if we see practically ...almost 60-70 percent of the vehicles plying on the road breaks the limit very often....leading to inconvenience and often major accidents…..So what I suggest is a mechanism to not to allow that to happen.....and effectively penalizing them(Rogue vehicles and their owners) through levies/penalties...so that the drivers do not break the law...by implementing this.
This starts like this:
1. Each car/vehicle be fitted with a plate below it with the number plate of the car (lets imagine it’s a bar code)
2. Now on every X meters a patch of LED sensors be placed to identify each vehicle with its unique id (Vehicle number).
3. So every X km the vehicle travels the average speed of the vehicle gets calculated.
4. The average speed is then matched with the max limit fixed for the highway, measuring whether the vehicle is crossing/exceeding the max limit specified.
5. Once the car is identified, the owner is identified by the SSN (US)/Pan (India) number associated with the car number.
6. If the car consistently breaks the speed limit barrier consistently after a certain amount of time.....which can be fixed on mutually agreeable terms.....a certain amount of penalty is added against his/her SSN/Pan number which should be paid while filing taxes for the financial year.
7. Every time such a penalty is levied the person is informed via a SMS/email.
8. Further for enhancement part the speed of the car can be remotely monitored (by the LED sensors) in case of continuous rash driving by developing an application for high end cars (Which would be the enhancement for the ROL concept).
Reason Why any government would go for this is:
1. It would maintain speed of vehicles on road.
2. For cars breaking the speed limit ...the penalty collection for the government would be very high.
3. Speed limits would be maintained ....the number of accidents would reduce drastically.
4. The need for enforcement authorities to help maintain speed limits on highways would reduce drastically.
5. The number of enhancements ...add on applications possible based on this can be huge... the possibilities are endless.
Note---it just struck to me that such an application is possible and it can revolutionize the way travel is done...globally on highways.
