BANGALORE: “Every policeman is a common man in uniform and every citizen is a policeman without uniform. Both share responsibility towards their nation,” said DG&IGP R Srikumar at an interactive session organised by the Janahita Rakshana Samiti in Malleswaram on Wednesday.
The event was to help create a synergy between citizens and the police.
Samiti president Bhagawan Das Alva said: “Many people have a wrong notion about the police and they are often reluctant to visit the police station, unless it is a major case.
"There is a fear that they may lose their ‘dignity’ if others find them visiting a police station. Hence, the police should take initiatives to make sure that people feel comfortable visiting a police station to file their complaints." Home Minister V S Acharya, who presided over the event, said that people should understand that police are also part of the society.
E arlier, they just had to maintain law and order. But now with increasing terrorist and naxal attacks, the department has new challenges to face. “Unless the citizens join hands with the police, crimes will be difficult to tackle,” he added.

One of the important inputs to security is to have the right officers in right places. When it comes to Cyber Security, it is difficult to find suitable Police officers to take charge.

In a few days from now, the tenure of Karnataka's most Cyber Savvy senior Police officer, Mr Srikumar (DG) will be retiring. It would be better if the Karnataka Government creates a suitable infrastructure to continue to make use of Mr Srikumar either in an extended tenure or in the capacity of an advisor to the State Cyber Security Force.

Also, the Indian National Cyber Security Forum, an anti Cyber Terrorism initiative of the Netizens in Bangalore would like to collaborate with the State Government on some of the Internet Security initiatives if the Government is open to private participation in Cyber Security.

In the police stations, under cases of Section 498A, a lot of extortions and blackmailing is going on and innocent citizens are terrorized and traumatized to cough up exorbitant amounts to 'settle' a false case of dowry harassment or face imprisonment. They are made to undergo psychological traumatization until they cough out the amount. Sometimes small children and physically challenged senior citizens are also not spared and innocent husbands are blackmailed emotionally to listen to unreasonable demands by torturous and unscrupulous wives and her parents like transfer property to their names or separate from parents, not allowing them to see their kids. Men also tend to loose their jobs, social reputation and mental peace. This is state aided legal terrorism and needs to be stopped immediately. Already married men are committing suicides in large nos. See the following links,

The Home Ministry needs to take serious note of this to ensure the process of law and order does not become a tool in the hands of criminal minded people as a handy weapon to wreak vengeance and havoc and settle scores.

I totaly agree on this part.
The innocent citizens are harraasesa lot under these laws, sply 498A and this needs to be stopped immediately.
I myself keep facing threats of false 498A from my wife every now and than.
Beaause of this beahaviour of my wife i almost lost my job and was also barred from traveling Onsite as part of my work.
I have even spent around 4 hours on two diffrent occassions in the Police Station, who in turn keep pressurisuing me to settle the score by giving some money.
This blackmailing should stop immediately.
More when I go to the policesation for any complaint I have to faec the filthy language of the cops as i am a criminal.
I request our H'ble Minister by the medium of this blog that the law should be amended so that the sincere and law abiding citizens of the country are not harrassed by this law.
I law is for protection and not for the missue.

I think it is important for Dr Acharya to look into the issue of wrongfull 498as and Dowry cases accepted by the police.

On the program Hello minister we had raised this request but would like to inform that nothing has changed.

Can Dr Acharya discuss with the karnatka law minister and appoint 4 more family court judges. It is extremely needed The plight of just two family court judges handling 11000 cases should move.

I request Dr Acharya to visit the family court to understand the scenario of both men and women .

In nyaya degula the other courts are empty but the family court is even more congested then the traffic of bangalore.

I would like to say that the families who are in practice of torturing their daughter in laws for their mental satisfaction in either ways physically n mentally till this law is there atleast are still in some limits as today's urban men who are educated and are aware of all the sources from where they can gain law related knowledge and how to conceal their wrong doings that also by being in the limit of laws are still scared of such laws which helps a lot to victims to any how help their situation else today's educated urban men who knows all the ways defend themselves inspite pacticing wrong things by mentally or physically molesting their wives to fulfil their wrong wishes...which are not at all justified. The important inputs to securityis to have right security officers in right places and family courts should pass their judgement on the basis of considering both the parties without turning biase as understanding the whole situation very minutely

@Anshu, Who is going to punish those families who torture their son in laws. Those are the families of legal terrorists who are pampered by the system. Yes the Government, the Police, the Judiciary, all. Men are treated as Disposable Entities, there is no respect for a husband. One false complaint can land him in jail, cost his job, social reputation and he is dragged into an unnecessary legal battle only to be proven innocent after losing 10 years of his youth because of a shitty system. We people pamper our women like anything and do not teach them responsibility. If my marriage breaks its because of my wife, but my sister's marriage breaks because of my brother-in-law. This is sheer double standards. People never realize the abusive and extremely demanding behavior of a wife towards a husbands. For your kind information in the last ten 156000 husbands have committed directly due to abuse by their wives. Every 57000 married men are committing suicides as opposed to 30000 married women. Women in India are 2 times more safer than women in US although there is no dowry system there and the overall system is also believed to be much better than India. Suicide rates of men is rising by 6 times in comparison to women and 98% of men are falsely implicated in dowry related matters. Visit www.saveindianfamily.org, www.wemen.us for more info.
And all this is happening because brainwashed people like you continue to believe that women are victims and men are bad. You are responsible for all this mess by not protesting and tolerating all the anti male slang everywhere.
