Dr.Minister, please look into the possibility of generating power from wind at GADAG and CHITRADURGA.

It is estimated that there is a potential to tap about 5000MW of energy here.

Many farmers have given away(sold) their fertile lands at 1-2lacs/acre.

Already there are windmills set up the region but not utilised upto its potential.

The farmers have not been made stakeholders neither farmers nor the region is benifitted since power generated is directly transferred to KPTCL by private players.

Wind power is nature friendly and cheap.

Power Crisis is worrisome specially during examination time!

It is really good that many developmental works are being done
but the present power crisis may have adverse impact on poll prospects.

Mangalore, July 4: In the impending and worsening power crisis in the state, Mangalore and Dakshina Kannada district appears to be worst affected. The city is getting only 7-8 hours of power per day while the rest of the day it is either shut off officially or unofficially.

During the last 7 days Mangalore city experienced over 70 hours of power outage with electricity vanishing every 2 hours once for more than 90-100 minutes. The power trip meter with the Mescom has recorded the same statistics. According to the sources in the Mescom the power situation in the state is going to worsen and Mangaloreans will have to bear the brunt of it.

In the last three days power shortage has hit the Mangaloreans very hard. People living in North Mangalore - right from Mannagudda to Lady Hill, Chilimbi, Urva Stores, Ashok Nagar, Dambel, Kottara, Kodical, Kulur and up to Surathkal have experienced unprecedented power shortage. Many places have undergone power cuts for over 12-16 hours putting the citizens into numerous problems. Apart from affecting their domestic lives, the power cut has also affected business establishments, shops, industries and government offices. The computer breakdowns have become common in the city due to the UPS going dry.
Many people have complained of their UPS not charging due to frequent power cuts and single phase power. The working ladies cannot complete their domestic work like cooking, washing, cleaning in time due to unscheduled power cuts. The life inside the cyber cafes are worse, the surfers are put to trouble as the UPS do not give the required back up for all the computers as a result the data is lost.

Many of the apartments that run their generators to keep the common utilities like lifts are in deep trouble. There are buildings with 14 floors in the city and people living in that building cannot do without lifts. One certain apartment in Chilimbi ran the generator continuously for 16 hours on Thursday, and Friday had to incur 4000 rupee worth fuel for the generator. "This month's maintenance bill will be more" the residents said.

One walk in the city can choke you to death with additional carbon dioxides and other noxious gases that the thousands of small generators spew out. All the shopkeepers need to have light and fan in their establishments to give comfort to their customers. But these generators do create so much of pollution.

Inside sources in the Mescom told Mangalorean.com that there is a standing order to the grid managers and engineers to plug off power to Mangalore at the slightest shortage in the grid, the first to suffer was Mangalore say the official sources.
