Moral Policing?

Does the attack on a restaurant in Indiranagar by residents amount to "Moral Policing"?

Media Scan! Selection from the press/ net on this issue

Kannada newspapers report: Vulgar dance was in progress during the attack

English Media:Blame Kannada Organizations! "local Kannada organisation were behind the attack. They demand Rs 20,000 during Rajyotsava and Ganesha festivals. This time we flatly refused", Parking, loud music and the perennial clogging of the narrow lane by partygoers was a major issue. Police complaint had been filed in 2006 about the loud music and obscene behaviour of guests, Attack led by women!, Karnataka safe for women travellers, but beware of the media

The Final Word: The food is bad, parking not available, expensive...how come the place is still crowded?

Dr Acharya,

Just wait for few days and the corrupt media houses like NDTV CNN IBN Indiatimes will give it a spin that RSS has beaten up some innocent girls having good time in the BAR and Restaurant. Then always ready Tehelka mafia will chip in with the fake outrage of "PINK CHADDIS". They will all potray as if BJP government is responsible for all this.

How one can justify people taking law in their own hand when police is there ..

Regardless of what the media says, the fact that some people have taken the law into their own hands is a cause for concern. We have seen similar cases in the Farm House attack by hooligans and manhandling of party goers. It is the duty of our police dept to step up in such matters and make sure the culprits are put behind bars.
