Citizens should cooperate with police: Minister

(TheHindu)
Bangalore: Home Minister V.S. Acharya on Tuesday called upon people not to violate rules and take the law into their own hands under any circumstances. Such things would only increase the work pressure of the police department, which is already over-burdened with the task of tackling terrorism and related activities, the Minister said.

Speaking after inaugurating a seminar on “Citizens Role in Policing” organised by Karnataka Rakshana Samiti, the Minister said it was important for citizens to cooperate with the police in maintaining law and order in the State.

Stressing that law and order and infrastructure development are co-related, the Minister said: “Countries such as Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia, which were lagging behind us some years ago are now in the list of developed countries. If you all vow not to violate law and start it right from the road where you tend to jump a signal, our State will also soon be a front-runner in all aspects,” he added.
