Bharat Scouts, Guides Platinum Jubilee Commemorative Bldg

Mangalore, Oct 3: The Platinum Jubilee Commemorative Building of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Dakshina Kannada district association was inaugurated by minister for higher education, Dr V S Acharya on Sunday October 3.

The building was inaugurated at the District Training Centre for Scouts and Guides, Pilikula Nisarga Dhama, Vamanjoor, here. Addressing the gathering, Acharya said that he would entreat chief minister B S Yedyyurappa to allot a sum of Rs 56 lac for the provision of free uniforms of scouts and guides to financially backward students. He also commended DKDA for promoting scouts and guides activities in the region.

On the same occasion the I A Kairanna Auditorium was inaugurated by K Abhayachandra, chief whip, member of state legislative assembly while the Dr P Dayanand Pai and P Sathish Pai Dining Hall was inaugurated by Dr P Dayanand Pai, chairman, Century Group, Bangalore.

The chief guest for the occasion included Santhosh Kumar Bhandary, president, zilla panchayat, DK, N Yogish Bhat, MLA, U T Khader, MLA, Vinaya Kumar Sorake, former Member of Parliament, Nagaraj Shetty, chairman, Coastal Development Authority and Dr K R Shetty, vice-patron, BS&G, DK.

The Bharat Scouts and Guides Bhavan at Lalbagh had limited space and hence the distrct administration helped the association by providing vast space at Pilikula. The foundation stone was laid on June 20, 2000 and the building is now complete. Daijiworld
