Kannada Film world 75, Piracy etc.,

Video piracy, Plagiarism, Copyright etc.,
Video Piracy is a menace even in the developed world. Technology with the pirate seems to be one step suprior to the one with the industry. However, releasing the new movie CD/DVD early, at an affordable cost seems to hold the key to prevent piracy...Ultimately the consumer/ viewer seems to hold the decision regarding the purchase of "pirated" movies...
Comments welcome, in this regard....

Acharya ji,

You have raised a good issue. As you have rightly pointed out, the video piracy fellows stay one step ahead of protection. Me being a computer scientist can tell you it is extremely difficult as of now to have a fool-proof security without investing much.

So, for movies, it is useless to invest so much in protecting piracy.

I believe what makes more sense is the new thought that is emerging in foreign world on how to utilize piracy to get more revenue.

For example, the movie producers deliberately allow portions of the movie to get pirated. They make sure that the direction is in such a way that person feels satisfied only when it is watched on big-screen.

Secondly, they allow piracy of a part of the movie and make the audience anxious and would make him to go to the theater to watch the rest.

Wide-scale piracy of selected version of the movie will overhaul the actual piracy since the producer is making it easy to pirate his version. The user who searches for full-version will be bombarded with these half-versions and will eventually stop trying to get that full-version.

This idea is being explored even by few indian-born directors like Shekhar kapoor.

As you've rightly pointed out, making things affordable also will help in this cause.

Please let me know what you think of the above discussed idea.
