Another dream true: Udupi DC office complex

MANIPAL: The newly-built Udupi DC complex at the sprawling Rajathadri, Manipal will be officially inaugurated and dedicated to the public on or before May 10, 2011, said higher education and district in-charge minister V S Acharya, in Manipal on Saturday. Acharya, along with Udupi DC and others visited the new building site for its final inspection and review.

Acharya told mediapersosns the new DC complex will be a state-of-the-art building as it is a fusion of new architecture excellence and the old elegance. A total Rs 27.15 crore have been spent on the building and another Rs 2 crore will be specially sanctioned for the purchase of modern furniture. He said the construction work which was allotted to Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) and was executed by the contractor K Vasudeva Shetty of Deviprasad Construction Company, Kaup, have done good work within the stipulated time. He said with the total of 1,34,000 sqft plinth area and adequate car parking, and parking stations for buses, autorikshaws, the DC complex at Manipal looks magnificent.

Acharya said other DC office, ZP office and 40 other government department offices will function from this new building. Acharya instructed both Udupi DC P Hemalatha and PWD executive engineer Suresh Shetty to carry out liaison work with KHB for the faster completion of the interior and other pending works, so that the new complex will be completed in all respects much before the inaugural day.

Hemalatha, Udupi DC, Udupi MLA K Raghupathi Bhat, Udupi ZP president Katpady Shankar Poojari and district leaders Udyakumar Shetty and Somashekar Bhat had accompanied Acharya during his visit to the new DC complex in Manipal. (news TOI)
