Udupi, Nov 28: Strategies should be evolved to efficiently face any natural or man-made disasters, said district minister-in-charge Dr V S Acharya here on Saturday, Nov 27.

He was speaking at the 'Disaster Reduction Day' observance and rally held in the TMA Pai English-medium School here. The event was jointly organized by the district home guards, civil defence, fire and emergency services units, Bharat Scouts and Guides and the Academy of General Education.

Expressing concern over the rise of terrorism and related incidence of disaster, he cited the example of Israel, which has been managing disasters efficiently and providing training to other countries.

District commandant of home guards Dr Ganapati Bhat welcomed the gathering. School headmaster A V Manjunath proposed the vote of thanks.

The programme was also marked by a demonstration by fire officer Shivappa Gowda and his team on how to rescue persons in distress and how manage fire mishaps efficiently. Home GuardsGovt to increase Home Guards to 40,000

UDUPI: The Home Guards, a force to be reckoned with in the state, play a vital role in maintaining law and order, especially during emergencies and exigencies by helping the police, home minister V S Acharya said in Malpe, near Udupi, on Sunday.

He was delivering the inaugural address, after formally inaugurating the Malpe unit of the Home Guards. The government has decided to increase the strength of Home Guards to 40,000 from the present 25,000 by 2011-12. The DA of Rs 100 to Home Guards volunteers has been increased to Rs 150 in all other places and in Bangalore, the increase of DA is from the present Rs 150 to Rs 175.

While lauding the Home Guards' activities in general, Acharya said the service rendered by 250 Home Guards constabulary in recent times, while forming the Mangalore police commissionerate, was commendable. Acharya said the parameters of a civilized society is how its law and order was maintained. Acharya, talking about the police force in the state, said the country has observed a silent revolution through the police force, which has resulted in low crime rate. Stolen property worth Rs 51 crore was given back to its owners. Acharya said the government has decided to recruit 400 more sub-inspectors and 6,000 police constables in two phases of 3,000 each.

Acharya and Udupi district sessions judge Narendrakuamr Gunike inaugurated the legal awareness programme for the Home Guards. Udupi Bar Association president C Vijaya Hegde, Ganapathi Bhat, district commander, and K C Rajesh, deputy commandant, Home Guards, also spoke.

Periodic checks, audits to render high-rises in Bangalore fire-proof

Bangalore: The state government has decided to bring in sweeping changes in the fire safety rules to prevent tragedies like the one that occurred at Carlton Towers on Airport Road three months ago. All high-rise buildings will be subject to inspections periodically, and their compliance with fire safety norms will be audited. Penal action will be taken against those found violating the rules.

The Karnataka Municipality Act will be amended. “We are preparing a draft bill on fire safety auditing in the high-rise buildings, which will be introduced in the coming legislative session,” home minister VS Acharya said, adding, “We have learnt lessons from Carlton Towers and other recent incidents. At present, once buildings get the occupancy certificate, there are no further checks. The new rules will make it mandatory for fire department officials to re-audit fire safety measures. There will be provisions for periodic and also surprise visits. Special officers will be appointed for this.”

Fire fighting capabilities too would be augmented. “This year, we are planning to set up 25 more fire stations across the state; 31 new modern fire fighting vehicles will be purchased. We will add manpower. We plan to purchase sky lifts and other equipment,” the home minister said.

Children too will not find themselves out of the ambit of the state’s fire fighting mechanism. DGP fire and emergency services, Jija Madhavan Harisingh said, “Last year, the Supreme Court directed that measures for fire safety be strictly enforced in all schools. Hence we are trying to create awareness among the children too.”

Disaster at Mangalore

An Air India Express flight from Dubai to Mangalore, overshot the runway at Mangalore International Airport ( IATA :IXE ) and caught fire. The flight, IX812, was being operated by a Boeing 737-800. The aircraft involved was VT-AXV, cn 36333/2481, a 2007 December built.It was bearing the ‘Victoria Memorial’ tailart.

The flight was due to arrive in Mangalore at 6.30a.m local time.The flight was carrying 163 passengers ( some reports state this at 137 adults + 19 children, at 156 passengers ) and six crew. There are nine survivors. The Herculean task of identifying the dead bodies have been started by forensic experts.

This is not the time to point fingers/ blame. Disaster strikes when least expected. It is for the investigations by concerned central authorities to find the cause of the mishap and learn from this episode, to prevent such events in future.

Disasters: Preparedness is better than relief

Disaster is a situation or event which overwhelms local capacity, necessitating a request to a national or international level for external assistance. Such events always strike when least expected. Hence the response of the system needs to be automatic, coordinated and needs to be based on pre established drilled/ rehearsed protocols. This obviously involves coordination between the various agencies.(eg:home/fire/paramilitary/homeguards/ communication/ transport / finance / revenue/NGO etc).

Natural calamities, of one description or the other, affect nations all over the world. Because of the large geographical size of the country, India often faces natural calamities like floods, cyclones landslides and earthquakes. Manmade disasters too affect us in the form of railway accidents, building collapse, industrial disasters including radiation and hazardous chemicals and finally acts of terror including bio terror and proxy wars.

Consequences of these calamities are loss of lives, injury to the survivors, epidemics, loss of housing, crops, damage to infrastructure, disruption of communication, panic, looting, break down of social order, short term or permanent migration, loss of industrial production.

Disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness and relief are four elements which contribute to and gain, from the implementation of the sustainable development policies. These elements along with environmental protection and sustainable development, are closely inter related. Disaster prevention, mitigation and preparedness are better than disaster response in achieving the goals and objectives of vulnerability reduction. Disaster response alone is not sufficient as it yields only temporary results at a very high cost. Prevention and mitigation contribute to lasting improvement in safety and are essential to integrated disaster management.

Hospital preparedness/ Dept of Helath is crucial to any disaster response system. Karnataka is in the forefront of medical education. This also has helped to identify Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Karnataka, as the lead national resource institution for disaster response related curriculum development. Other measures include flood preparedness and response, earthquake risk mitigation and disaster risk management programme.Awareness generation. Awareness generation campaigns are necessary to sensitize all the stakeholders on the need for disaster preparedness and mitigation measures. Elected representatives and officials are to be trained in disaster management under the programme. Awareness about vulnerabilities is a good tool for inducing a mindset of disaster prevention, mitigation and preparedness. This includes use of the mass media, introduction of relevant content in school curriculum etc.,

Need for audit:Man always learns from his or others past experience. Experts in the field of Disaster management, should document and publish the past experience. In this regard there is also a need for having a regional and national registry on disaster related activities.

I am sure, such exchange of ideas through communication would enrich our knowledge.Let us all benefit from such shared wisdom to make this world, a safe one!

As many as 169 people lost their lives, over 1.2 lakh houses collapsed, over 350 villages were marooned, and 3,048 animals were washed away in the incessant rains that wrecked havoc in the 16 districts of Northern Karnataka over the last week. Home Minister VS Acharya said that 1,77,425 people have been given shelter in 589 relief camps across the state. The total damage caused by the rains is estimated to be around Rs 10,000 crore.
“We have not yet done an assessment of the losses as we are waiting for the water to recede from villages and fields. But the losses could be about Rs 10,000 crore,” Acharya said at a press conference on Sunday.
The toll is likely to go up as it is feared that about 20 people have been buried alive in a landslide in Karwar district. Eight helicopters and 73 boats have been engaged for relief and rescue operations.
“The entire government machinery from village level to the state level is attending rescue and relief operations,” Acharya said, adding that the government has released Rs 400 crore. (Express)

A high level delegation from Karnataka led by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today demanded an assistance of Rs 318 crore from the Centre to carry out flood relief measures in the state.
Talking to reporters after his meeting with various Central leaders, the Chief Minister said Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar has promised to include five districts sought by the State Government for coverage under National Horticulture Mission. These districts were Bangalore Urban, Mandya, Davanagere, Havri and Gadag. He said the Centre also assured Karnataka that it would send a team to assess the flood damages caused to the agriculture crops due to excess rains and drought in some districts of the state. The delegation met Mr Pawar today morning in the capital.
The Chief Minister explained to Mr Pawar about the flood damage caused by excess rains in 24 districts and floods in seven districts resulting in loss of 150 lives and damage to 10,000 houses across the state. The drought was basically in plains of the state. "The damage due to floods is assessed at Rs 517 crore and we have sought a central assistance of Rs 318 crore to take up relief measures," Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said. He said the request for Rs 2,000 crore last year was not considered in the right spirit.
Power crisis
The delegation also met the Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde. The chief minister explained how the state had to spend Rs 2,750 crore to purchase power at a very high cost of Rs 9.50 to Rs 10 a unit for ensuring smooth power supply. The state had sought the Centre ensure parity in terms of its allocations to Karnataka from its power generating units in the peninsula.
The state was getting a mere 20.5 per cent from the Central power units as against 31.6 per cent of Tamil Nadu and 26.19 per cent of Andhra Pradesh. The Centre should enhance its allocation by 500 MW to ensure fair share for Karnataka, Mr Yeddyurappa said.
The delegation also called on Union Minister from Karnataka, Mr Veerappa Moily and Oscar Fernandes and apprised them on the power crisis. The delegation included power minister Eshwarappa, Home Minister Dr VS Acharya, Tourism Minister Janardana Reddy, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Shobha Karandlaje and others.

Udupi, Jul 11: District in-charge minister Dr V S Acharya presided over a meeting of the officials at the office of the deputy commissioner here, to review the losses in the district, on account of rain and the relief works taken up thereon.
Speaking later to the mediamen, Acharya said that the estimated losses the district has suffered so far since April 1 this year due to heavy rains is Rs 29 crore. Due to floods, two lives were lost while two others died due to lightning. Because of the chronic sea erosion at Udyavar Padukere, a fisheries concrete road has been damaged, he explained. Acharya also said that he has demanded for a sum of Rs 10 crore from the state government for undertaking rescue and relief works connected with rain.
The home minister urged the Prime Minister to permanently station a contingent of National Disaster Response Force in the district, to cater to the emergency relief works of Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts. It may be recalled, that a team of 90 personnel of NDRF have arrived in the district on Friday July 10 to meet exigencies.
The minister also laid the foundation stone for the residential quarters proposed to be built at Beedinagudde in the city for the civic workers of the municipality, at a cost of Rs 40 lac.

ವಿದ್ಯುಚ್ಛಕ್ತಿ ಅಭಾವ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ನಿವಾರಣೆಗೆ ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಸರಕಾರ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದು, ಈ ತಿಂಗಳ 16 ರಿಂದ ತಣ್ಣೀರುಬಾವಿ ಬಾರ್ಜ್ ಮೌಂಟೆಡ್ ಸ್ಥಾವರದ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ರಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಲಭ್ಯವಾಗಲಿದೆ. ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಒಪ್ಪಂದದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದುವರೆಗೆ ರಾಜಸ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕೆ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಕಳಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೂ ನ.16 ರ ಬಳಿಕ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕಕ್ಕೆ ಲಭಿಸಲಿದೆ. ಕೊಂಚ ದುಬಾರಿಯಾದರೂ ಅದು ಗ್ರಾಹಕರಿಗೆ ಹೊರೆಯಾಗದು ಎಂದರು. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ವಾರಾಹಿ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಯೋಜನೆಯನ್ನು ಈ ವರ್ಷಾಂತ್ಯದೊಳಗೆ ಆರಂಭಿಸಲು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಎರಡು ಘಟಕಗಳು ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಉತ್ಪಾದನೆ ಮಾಡಲಿವೆ. ಇವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಸುಸೂತ್ರವಾದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ಬಗೆಹರಿಯಲಿದೆ ಎಂದರು.
ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರು ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ನಿವಾರಣೆಗೂ ಹಣದ ಅಡಚಣೆ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಈಗಾಗಲೇ 14 ಕೋಟಿ ರೂ.ಗಳಷ್ಟು ಇದೆ. ಬೈಂದೂರು ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಪಡುವರಿ ಮತ್ತು ಉಡುಪಿ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಉಪ್ಪೂರುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸವುಳು ನೀರಿನ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯಿದ್ದು, ಆ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ನಿವಾರಣೆಗೆ ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಸಚಿವ ಆಚಾರ್ಯ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ಕಂದಾಯ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ನಿವಾರಣೆಗಾಗಿ ಈ ತಿಂಗಳ 14 ರಂದು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂದಾಯ ಸಚಿವರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಭೆ ಕರೆಯಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಡುಪಿ ಹಾಗೂ ದ. ಕ. ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಉಸ್ತುವಾರಿ ಸಚಿವರು, ಕಾನೂನು ಸಚಿವರು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವರು. ಕುಮ್ಕಿ, ಅಕ್ರಮ ಸಕ್ರಮ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿಗಳ ನಿವಾರಣೆಗಾಗಿ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಇಲಾಖೆಯಲ್ಲಿನ ಭ್ರಷ್ಟಾಚಾರ ನಿವಾರಣೆಗೆ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗುವುದು ಎಂದರು.

ಅಂತಾರಾಜ್ಯ ವಿಚಾರವಿನಿಮಯ:- ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಉದ್ಭವಿಸಿದ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳ ನಿವಾರಣೆಗೆ ಕ್ಷಿಪ್ರವಾಗಿ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸಿದ ಸರಕಾರ ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅಂತಾರಾಜ್ಯ ವಿಚಾರವಿನಿಮಯಗಳನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿದೆ. ರಾಜ್ಯ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಯಡಿಯೂರಪ್ಪ ನಿರ್ದೇಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಗೃಹಸಚಿವನಾದ ತನ್ನ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೈಗೊಂಡ ಈ ಕ್ರಮ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಇತಿಹಾಸದಲ್ಲೇ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಸಚಿವ ಡಾ. ಆಚಾರ್ಯ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿನ ಅಪರಾಧ ಪ್ರಕರಣಗಳನ್ನು ತಹಬದಿಗೆ ತರುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ `ಕೋಕಾ' ಕಾಯಿದೆ ಶೀಘ್ರ ಅನುಷ್ಠಾನವಾಗಿದೆ. ಅಪರಾಧ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣವೇ ಇದರ ಉದ್ದೇಶ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಕನಕ ಜಯಂತಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಥಮ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ರಾಜ್ಯಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಚರಿಸಲು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ನ.15ರಂದು ಸರಕಾರಿ ರಜಾ ಘೋಷಿಸುವುದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಉಡುಪಿ, ಬಾಡ ಹಾಗೂ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ದೂರಿಯಾಗಿ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುವುದು ಎಂದರು (ಕನ್ನಡ ವರದಿ : ಗಲ್ಫ್ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗ)

ಉಡುಪಿ:ನ,11. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸರಕಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಸಿಖಂದರಾಬಾದ್ ಇ‌ಎಂಆರ್ಐ ಜಂಟಿ ಸಹಯೋಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಈಚೆಗೆ ರಾಜ್ಯವ್ಯಾಪಿ ಚಾಲನೆಗೊಂಡ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಕವಚ ತುರ್ತು ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾ ಸೇವೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯ ಮ೦ಗಳವಾರದ೦ದು ಉದ್ಘಾಟನೆಗೊಂಡಿತು. ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಉಸ್ತುವಾರಿ ಸಚಿವ ಡಾ. ವಿ. ಎಸ್. ಆಚಾರ್ಯರವರು ಈ ಯೋಜನೆಯನ್ನು ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದರು.
ಈ ಯೋಜನೆ ಬಡವರಿಗೆ ಅನುಕೂಲವಾಗಲಿದೆ. ಒಟ್ಟು ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯ 95 ಶೇ.ದಷ್ಟು ಮೊತ್ತವನ್ನು ಯೋಜನೆಯಡಿ ಭರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ತುರ್ತುಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ 108 ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಗೆ ಡಯಲ್ ಮಾಡಿದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಂಬುಲೆನ್ಸ್ ಸೇವೆ ಲಭ್ಯ. ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಆಂಬುಲೆನ್ಸ್ ಒದಗಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಇನ್ನೂ ಎರಡು ಆಂಬುಲೆನ್ಸ್‌ಗಳನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸಲಾಗುವುದು ಎಂದರು.
ಒಟ್ಟು 517ವಾಹನವು ಮು೦ಬರುವ 2010ರ ಮಾರ್ಚ ಅ೦ತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರಲಿದೆ. ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಸುಮಾರು 66 ವಾಹನವನ್ನು ಈ ಸೇವೆಗೆ ಒದಗಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆ೦ಗಳೂರಿಗೆ 36ವಾಹನವನ್ನು ಹಾಗೂ 17 ವಾಹನವನ್ನು ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಇತರ ಕಡೆಗಳಿಗೆ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಅದೇ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮು೦ಬರುವ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತೆರಡು ವಾಹನವು ಬರಲಿದೆ ಎ೦ದರು.
‘ನಿರಂತರ ಜ್ಯೋತಿ’ಉಡುಪಿಗೆ: ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಕೆಲವೆಡೆ ಆರಂಭಿಸಲಾಗಿರುವ ನಿರಂತರ ಜ್ಯೋತಿ ಯೋಜನೆ ಸದ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಉಡುಪಿಯಲ್ಲೂ ಜಾರಿಯಾಗಲಿದೆ. ಈ ಯೋಜನೆಯಡಿ 24 ಗಂಟೆಗಳ ಕಾಲ ನಿರಂತರ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಲಾಗುವುದು. ಕಳೆದ ಕೆಲವು ದಿನಗಳಿಂದ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯೂ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ವಿವಿಧ ಭಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ತಲೆದೋರಿದೆ. 125 ಗಂಟೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ 65 ಗಂಟೆಗಳಷ್ಟು ಕಾಲ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಕೈಕೊಟ್ಟಿತ್ತು. ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯಿಂದ ಹೀಗಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಕ್ಷಿಪ್ರವಾಗಿ ಈ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ಬಗೆಹರಿಸಲು ಹರಸಾಹಸಪಡಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಉತ್ಪಾದನೆ ಘಟಕಗಳಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧ ಮಾಡುವುದು ಸಲ್ಲದು ಎಂದರು.
ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಚಿವ ಆಚಾರ್ಯ ರವರು ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಕಿಟ್ ವಿತರಿಸಿದರು.
ಶಾಸಕ ರಘುಪತಿ ಭಟ್ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ವಿಧಾನ ಪರಿಷತ್ ಸದಸ್ಯ ಕೋಟ ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ ಪೂಜಾರಿ, ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ಹೇಮಲತಾ, ಜಿ. ಪಂ. ಸಿ‌ಇ‌ಓ ಪ್ರಸನ್ನಕುಮಾರ್, ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಸರ್ಜನ್ ಡಾ. ದಯಾನಂದ ನಾಯಕ್ ಮೊದಲಾದವರಿದ್ದರು.
ನ೦ದಕಿಶೋರ್ ರವರು ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದರು, ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಸಜನಿ ಸುಬ್ರಹ್ಮಣ್ಯರವರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದರು.
ಇದೇ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿ.ಪ೦ಚಾಯತ್ ನ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಕುಟು೦ಬ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ವತಿಯಿ೦ದ ‘ಆನೆಕಾಲು ರೋಗ ನಿಯ೦ತ್ರಣದ ಔಷಧವನ್ನು ವಿತರಣೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಸಚಿವರಾದ ಡಾ.ಆಚಾರ್ಯರವರು ಚಾಲನೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.(ವರದಿ : ಗಲ್ಫ್ಕನ್ನಡಿಗ)

Role of Private health care providers in Trauma/ Disaster management appreciated

Super specialty block of Tejaswini Hospital, here was inaugurated on Sunday August 31.

N Vinay Hegde, chairman of Nitte Education Trust inaugurated the super specialty block and graced the occasion. V Sambamurti, chairman and managing director of Corporation Bank inaugurated the operation theatre.
Home minister Dr V S Acharya inaugurated the state of art facilities and presided over the function. Addressing the gathering, he said that private institutions have played a major role in the development of health, education and sanitary spheres in the district. The same tradition should be retained in the coming days also, he urged. Meanwhile, he appreciated the authorities of Tejaswini Hospital for especially treating the accident victims.
Dr Shantaram Shetty welcomed the gathering. Dr M Ajit Hegde proposed vote of thanks.
